Judo:الجودو
judo style
The martial art style of judo can mean many things to different people. In fact, it is a fun and exciting sport, an art, a discipline, an activity, a way to protect yourself, and quite simply, a way of life. Although you may hear many different meanings, the word judo actually means all of the above and many more. Judo was originally founded in 1882 and comes from the feudal Japanese fighting system. At its founding, judo was a refinement of martial arts. Jujutsu is one of the oldest martial arts styles, dating back hundreds of years. Judo made its greatest impact in 1964 when it was first introduced into the Olympic Games. Now, it is practiced by millions of people worldwide. Judo can help students stay fit, excel in all areas of competition, maintain protection through self-defense, and much more. For the majority of students, judo is practiced just for fun. While it starts out as fun for many, it quickly turns into a lifestyle, a burning passion, if you will. Like other martial arts, judo has rules that ensure the safety of competitors in competitions. Judo students looking to test their skills will enjoy the levels of competition, which range from club meets to national championships, and even the most prestigious level of competition—the Olympic Games. Judo is known for its amazing throwing techniques. What many people don't realize is that judo is more than just throws. It also includes ground grappling, blocking, arm locks, leg locks, and even choking techniques. Judo teaches all aspects of self-defense, from a grappler's perspective. Another great thing about judo is that anyone can study it, male or female, even those with disabilities. Judo is also inexpensive to participate in, is taught year-round, and appeals to everyone. This martial art is also unique in that even older people enjoy practicing it daily. Judo also helps students learn and develop respect and self-discipline. It provides an opportunity to learn self-confidence, leadership skills, strength, flexibility, and physical prowess. Judo has evolved quite a bit over the years, transitioning from a fighting art to a competitive one. These days, there are separate judo classes for children, adults, and seniors. The martial art of judo, which means "the gentle way," teaches you the techniques you need for self-defense as well as competition. Judo differs from other martial arts in that it combines the best of grappling with impressive throws that require little or no strength—but more so the way you position your body. This is an excellent martial art—one that anyone can enjoy.
